Penny Crayon is an animated series which ran from 1989 to 1990. It was produced by Maddocks Animation which worked on several animated series, including The Family Ness and Jimbo and the Jet Set.
The series follows Penny, a cheeky and imaginative schoolgirl who loves drawing and her best friend Dennis. Using her magic crayons she can bring anything she draws to life, usually to wind up adults and teach bullies a lesson. Penny was voiced by Su Pollard and Dennis by Peter Hawkins.
Despite running for only 12 episodes, Penny Crayon has a strong cult following thanks to its retro music and design and imaginitive scenarios.
In March 1993, 4 Front Video released a single video containing 8 episodes of the 1980's British animated series Penny Crayon consisting of 4 episodes from each of the 2 Parkfield Publishing releases together in one video.
