SuperTed was a famous character in a television show created by Mike Young and Robin Lyons. It was shown on CBBC.
It followed the adventures of an ordinary Teddy Bear who was defective in a toy factory and "thrown away like a piece of rubbish" in a cold dark storeroom. He was found by Spotty, a spottyman from the Planet Spot who brought him to life with his cosmic dust. He was then given super powers by Mother Nature and became the super hero Superted. He activates his powers with a special word which is never heard by the audience. With his friend Spotty, he thwarted the wicked plans of the bandit Texas Pete and his henchmen, the slow witted Bulk and a cowardly and campy skeleton.
The complete series is available on DVD as of 16 June 2008. Superted still retains a strong popularity due to its high quality animation, star class voice cast and memorable characters. There have recently been rumours of a revamped series or even a feature film.
